Following SSU investigations, another 5 militants who stormed Avdiivka, Bakhmut and Robotyne sentenced to 15 years in prison

Based on evidence collected by the SSU, another five traitors who fought against Ukraine’s Defence Forces in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions have been convicted to prison.

Ukrainian defenders captured four of them during combat near Bakhmut and Avdiivka. Another was detained during the battle for Robotyne.

One of the perpetrators is a resident of the temporarily occupied Donetsk. In 2015, he joined the russian-controlled ‘DNR people’s militia’ and fought against the Anti-Terrorist Operation forces in eastern Ukraine.

After the start of the full-scale war, the militant was transferred to a sniper unit of russia’s Southern military district.

As a member of this unit, the traitor fired at the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Avdiivka.

Another criminal is a resident of Crimea who had been serving a sentence for serious crimes in prison. There, he voluntarily joined the occupation unit Storm-V.

After a short training at the grounds in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region, he was appointed a rifleman in a russian assault unit and sent to Robotyne area.

The other convicts include a flamethrower operator and two riflemen of Vostok and Kalmius enemy groups, who fought against the Defence Forces near Olenivka and Volnovakha.

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court found the accused guilty under the Articles of the CCU:

  • 258-3.1 (participation in a terrorist organization);
  • 260.2 (participation in an unlawful armed formation);
  • 111.1, 111.2 (high treason);
  • 111-1.7 (collaboration).

The investigations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Zhytomyr, Poltava, Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of regional prosecutors.
