Following SSU investigations, eight traitors who fought against Donetsk region defenders sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on evidence collected by the Security Service, another eight traitors who fought against the Defence Forces on the eastern front have been convicted to 15 years in prison and confiscation of property.
The perpetrators were captured by Ukrainian defenders during fighting in the Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, Siversk and Lyman sectors in 2025.
The investigation revealed that two of the men are residents of the temporarily occupied city of Rovenky, Luhansk region, who joined russia’s armed groupings at the start of the full-scale war.
While serving in the 7th separate motorized rifle brigade and the 6th brigade of the ‘DPR people’s militia’, the traitors initially unloaded ammunition and provisions, as well as built fortified positions for russian forces near Lysychansk, Popasna and Volodymyrivka.
Later, their units were sent to storm Ukrainian positions near Verkhniokamyanske and Dronivka. During the counterattack, Ukrainian servicemen captured both perpetrators.
Two more convicts, ‘mobilised’ into the 57th infantry regiment and the 114th separate motorised rifle brigade of russia’s 51st combined arms army, are from the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk oblast.
In late 2025, the traitors were deployed in ‘meat grinder’ assaults on Ukrainian Armed Forces positions near Rusyn Yar, where they were captured by Ukrainian troops.
Three more occupiers from Crimea were detained in the Kramatorsk area. As part of the ‘Storm’ detachment of the 10th tank regiment, the 126th coastal defence brigade and the 6th motorised rifle brigade, they participated in battles near Siversk, Oleksandro-Kalinove, and Kostyantynivka.
Among those convicted is a Dnipropetrovsk region resident who signed a contract with the ‘Storm’ detachment of the aggressor’s 37th motorized rifle regiment while in prison in the russian city of Tver.
It has been confirmed that the perpetrator fought near Kudryashivka in the Luhansk region. He later unsuccessfully attempted to storm Ukrainian positions near the highway in the Zarichne area on Lyman direction. He was taken prisoner during one of the battles.
Based on investigations by the Security Service, the court found the accused persons guilty under two Articles of the CCU:
- parts 1 and 2 of 111 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 111-1.7 (collaboration).
The operational and investigative activities were carried out by the SSU Military Counterintelligence and investigators of the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
