Following SSU investigation, FSB agent plotting arson of electrical substation in Kropyvnytskyi sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment

Based on evidence collected by the Security Service, an agent of russia’s federal security service has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and confiscation of property. The SSU exposed him in February 2025 whilst he was preparing to set fire to a key electrical substation in Kropyvnytskyi.

The investigation established that the enemy orders were carried out by a local unemployed man. He came to the attention of the ruscists whilst seeking ‘easy money’ on Telegram.

Acting on the aggressor state’s instructions, the agent conducted reconnaissance near the power facility, which supplies the regional hospital and residential areas.

While ‘on site’, the perpetrator monitored the power substation’s security system and its technical condition.

He was subsequently awaiting instructions from his russian handler on how to prepare a flammable mixture, which he was to pour over the power facility’s equipment and set alight.

The asset also recorded the coordinates of potential Defence Forces bases within the regional centre.

The Security Service exposed the traitor early and caught him red-handed whilst he was spying near a temporary deployment point for Ukrainian troops.

During a search, a smartphone which he had used to contact the FSB and gather intelligence was seized.

Based on evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Kirovohrad region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
