Following SSU investigation, FSB agent sentenced to 15 years in prison for preparing russian missile strike on Ukrzaliznytsia stations in Vinnytsia region
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another FSB agent, who operated in Vinnytsia oblast, has been convicted to prison.
On the instructions of the russian service, he was preparing a series of missile and drone strikes on the facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukrainian Railways] and energy sector.
To this end, the agent tried to identify locations of junction stations used by the military echelons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He also collected information on technical condition of substations that supply electricity to railway infrastructure.
The asset was to pass the intelligence to his russian handler via an anonymous mailbox. The ‘report’ included coordinates of potential targets with their photos and descriptions.
If the agent fulfilled the task, the FSB promised to transfer RUB 100,000 to his bank card to purchase a car.
The traitor hoped that later the russian service would extract him to russia.
However, the SSU identified the FSB agent at an early stage, documented the crime and detained him on an attempt to transmit intelligence.
According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is a 57-year-old local resident, recruited remotely by the russian intelligence in May 2023.
The man came to the FSB’s attention because of his pro-kremlin views, which he shared on his Odnoklassniki page.
During the search, a mobile phone used by him to communicate with the aggressor was seized.
Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law) and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Vinnytsia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
