Following SSU investigation, FSB agent sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempt to blow up Kherson Recruitment Centre
Based on evidence collected by the Security Service, an FSB agent, who the SSU exposed in March 2025 in Kherson, has been convicted to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
At the time, the Security Service caught the perpetrator red-handed as he attempted to leave a bag containing an improvised explosive device at the entrance to the regional Territorial Recruitment Centre.
The russian intelligence operatives planned to remotely detonate it along with their agent.
According to the investigation, the person carrying out the orders of russia’s federal security service turned out to be an unemployed resident of Cherkasy who came to the enemy’s attention through Telegram channels offering ‘easy money’.
After recruitment, the russians tested him by having him set fire to relay cabinets on local railway.
He was then deployed to Kherson to prepare for a terrorist attack. Upon arriving in the port city, the agent received the geolocation of a cache, from which he retrieved the IED.
Also, on instructions from russia, the traitor installed a special program on his smartphone, which the FSB used to track his every move.
In this way, the enemy planned to know the agent’s location so they could blow him up with the bomb near the TRC.
During the search, an IED and a phone containing evidence of his contacts with his FSB handler were seized from the detainee.
Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under the Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 28.2, 113.2 (sabotage, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy, under martial law).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Cherkasy region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
