Following SSU investigation, FSB agent who guided enemy strikes on Kharkiv's energy sector in summer 2025 sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another russian agent, exposed in July 2025 for adjusting strikes on Kharkiv, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
According to the investigation, the perpetrator leaked the coordinates of military, electric, and heat-generating facilities in the regional centre to the FSB, which the enemy was planning to target with a new series of missile and drone attacks.
In this way, the ruscists hoped to disrupt preparations for the heating season in the frontline city and leave hundreds of Kharkiv homes without electricity.
It has been established that a local drug addict recruited by the FSB who had previously worked at a thermal energy enterprise guided enemy strikes.
He came to the attention of the russian intelligence service while looking for drug money in Telegram channels.
After being recruited, the traitor drove around the city to identify modular boiler houses and gas turbine generators that had been installed to provide alternative energy supplies in case key thermal power plants were damaged by the enemy.
In addition, the agent tracked the combat positions of the air defence system protecting the airspace of the regional centre.
The agent transmitted the collected data to an FSB handler from moscow oblast via a messenger app in the form of Google Maps screenshots marked with potential targets.
SSU officers detained the traitor at his home. During searches, law enforcement seized a smartphone and computer equipment containing evidence of covert contacts with the enemy.
Based on the SSU materials, the court found the agent guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
The investigation was conducted by SSU officers in Kharkiv Region under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor's office.
