Following SSU’s investigation, FSB agent sentenced to 15 years in prison for spying on AFU units near Bakhmut

Based on the SSU’s evidence, the court convicted another FSB agent, who passed coordinates of combat positions of Ukraine’s Defence Forces in Donetsk region to the aggressor.

One of the informant’s tasks was to identify coordinates of the AFU’s key strongholds and firing points near Bakhmut.

The invaders used the agent’s intelligence to carry out massive attacks on the city and its suburbs using barrel artillery, mortars and multiple launch rocket systems.

The enemy also needed the data to plan its military operations to storm and capture Bakhmut.

The FSB used its asset to also search for ‘like-minded people’ and recruit them for espionage for russia in Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.

For performing the assignments, the FSB promised the man a ‘salary’ of UAH 15,000 (USD 392). However, the spy never received this money.

The SSU detained the agent during a special operation in Bakhmut in August 2022.

Following the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The convicted individual is a local resident who was recruited remotely by an officer of the FSB’s 5th service after the start of russia’s full-scale invasion.

To contact his handler, the informant used anonymous chats in messengers and signed himself as ‘Sedoy’ or ‘Stupyansky’.

The intelligence was transmitted to the aggressor as photos and videos of Ukrainian targets with their markings on electronic maps.

During the searches, the SSU seized a mobile phone used by the suspect for communication with the FSB.

Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).

The SSU Vinnytsia Office conducted the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
