Following SSU investigation, GRU agent sentenced to 15 years in prison for directing enemy strikes at Ukrainian airfields

Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, another agent of russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’) who directed enemy air strikes on Khmelnytskyi region has been convicted to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The investigation established that he guided missile strikes at aviation infrastructure in the region. The aggressor’s primary targets were airfields with combat helicopters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

To track the location of the aircraft, the agent set up an ‘observation post’ in his home, near one of the military installations.

He also set up a video camera with remote access for the GRU on the roof of his house. With this equipment, the occupiers hoped to track the activity of Ukrainian aviation in order to prepare air strikes.

The SSU apprehended the traitor in March 2025 at his home. A smartphone and a video camera with evidence of reconnaissance and sabotage on the GRU’s behalf were seized from him.

The enemy’s tasks were carried out by a 31-year-old local unemployed man. He came to russia’s attention when looking for easy money on Telegram channels.

Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU – high treason, committed under martial law.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Khmelnytskyi region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
