Following SSU investigation, GRU agent sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempt to cut arms supply to AFU in Kharkiv region

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another agent of russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’), who operated in Kharkiv region, has been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The perpetrator performed tasks aimed at destroying logistics channels for supply of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine’s Defense Forces on the eastern front.

The traitor prepared coordinates for the aggressor’s missile and bomb strikes on transit warehouses and maintenance bases of the Armed Forces of Ukraine military convoys heading to the frontline.

The SSU thwarted the ruscists’ plans and detained the enemy spotter in the autumn of 2024 at his home after he conducted additional reconnaissance near a potential target.

A mobile phone with an anonymous chat in a messenger app, which the individual used to prepare the intelligence for the GRU, was seized during searches.

According to the investigation, the agent is a 43-year-old local unemployed man who came to russia’s attention because of his publications on Telegram in support of the aggressor state.

After recruitment, the man regularly travelled around the city and its suburbs, where he tried to identify military facilities, take pictures of them and mark their geolocations on Google maps.

The enemy asset also recorded the consequences of enemy strikes, which he found during his reconnaissance sorties in the frontline areas of the region.

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
