Following SSU investigation, council member who called on Ukrainians to surrender to ruscists during Sumy battle sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, a traitorous deputy of Okhtyrka District Council of Sumy region from the banned Nash Krai political party has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
After the capture of Trostianets in Sumy region, he supported the enemy and offered his assistance in the war against Ukraine.
To do this, the traitor called on local residents not to resist the invaders and to assist the russians in the offensive on Sumy.
He also helped the command of the russian occupation groupings to navigate the area and adjusted enemy maps aiding to plan combat operations.
In addition, the council member provided the aggressor’s troops with food and personally assisted in restoring power supply to the buildings where the occupiers were staying.
However, during the liberation of Trostianets, the traitor laid low in the community and hoped to evade justice.
The SSU found and detained him.
Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under two Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 436-2.1 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The perpetrator was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Sumy Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
