Following SSU investigation, deserter sentenced to 15 years in prison for guiding enemy strikes at Dnipro on FSB’s orders
Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, an agent of russia’s federal security service – exposed in January this year for guiding strikes at Dnipro – has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and confiscation of property.
The investigation revealed that a local conscript, recruited by the enemy, was responsible for directing russia’s attacks.
He came to the attention of the russian intelligence due to pro-kremlin comments he posted in the chat rooms of Telegram channels.
After the recruitment, the traitor received instructions from his handler to identify the bases of Ukraine’s Defence Forces, against which the ruscists were preparing a new series of missile and drone strikes.
The SSU documented how the agent tracked the locations of neighbouring units of Ukrainian defenders whilst outside his military unit.
During such outings, the perpetrator travelled by public transport, from which he secretly photographed the locations of defence facilities, marking their coordinates on Google Maps.
Later, the enemy accomplice deserted his military unit and passed on its location to the FSB.
The SSU identified the mole at an early stage and secured the positions of the Defence Forces in the area of his espionage activity.
In the final stage of the special operation, the SSU Counterintelligence detained the traitor whilst he was in hiding at his relatives’ home.
During a search, a smartphone, which he had used to gather intelligence and contact the FSB, was seized from the suspect.
Based on evidence collected by the SSU, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
