Following SSU’s investigation, FSB agent sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempting to cut power to Ukraine’s five regions
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another FSB informant, who guided russian missiles at key energy facilities in Ukraine, has been convicted to prison.
The targets were major power substations in Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.
The enemy agent also collected information on the consequences of russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. He wanted to determine the level of damage and technological capabilities of these facilities.
The aggressor needed the intelligence to prepare new missile attacks to completely cut off power to 5 regions of Ukraine.
In June 2023, the SSU Military Counterintelligence detained the suspect ‘red-handed’.
Following the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
The investigation established that the traitor was an official of Ukrenergo local unit who headed a group on optimization and calculation of electricity losses.
The russian intelligence service had recruited him before the full-scale invasion and at the end of February 2022 instructed him to carry out their reconnaissance assignments.
The asset passed the information to the FSB through a ‘liaison’ based in the temporarily occupied Shchastia, Luhansk region. An anonymous chat in a messenger was used for communication.
Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 28.2, 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region jointly with the SSU Military Counterintelligence under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
