Following SSU investigation, another FSB agent who guided enemy attacks at Odesa sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service, an FSB agent detained in Odesa in November 2022 has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. The perpetrator directed russian missile and drone attacks on the port city.
As the investigation established, he drove around the regional centre in his car and recorded the locations of Defence Forces bases using a hidden dashcam.
The agent stored the collected information on a memory card, which he planned to later pass to his handler from russia’s federal security service.
Upon receiving the intelligence, the occupiers planned to use it to guide missile systems and strike drones at the locations of Ukrainian troops.
The SSU acted preemptively and detained the traitor while he was attempting to provide intelligence to the aggressor state.
The enemy accomplice turned out to be a local unemployed man recruited by the russian intelligence services. He came to their attention when he posted pro-kremlin messages in Telegram channel chat rooms.
In exchange for collaborating with the enemy, the traitor hoped to receive a ‘position’ within the ranks of the occupation administration in the event of Odesa’s capture.
During the searches of the suspect’s vehicle, investigators discovered a hidden dashcam, a memory card, and a smartphone containing evidence of his work for russia.
Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Office in Odesa region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
