Following SSU investigation, another traitor sentenced to 15 years in prison for guiding russian strikes on Kharkiv
Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, an enemy agent, detained in August 2025 for adjusting airstrikes on Kharkiv, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and confiscation of property.
The SSU’s cyber units caught the perpetrator while he was preparing a list of coordinates of potential targets for his russian handler.
The investigation revealed that the perpetrator is a local auto mechanic who had sought to make contact with russian intelligence via Telegram channels.
The agent was found to be involved in adjusting a large-scale russian attack on Kharkiv in June 2025.
At that time, the ruscists attacked the city with Geran-2 drones. The strike damaged high-rise buildings, an educational institution, a supermarket and private vehicles.
Following the attack, the agent ‘surveyed’ the impact sites to document the extent of the damage and report to his handler.
The latter turned out to be a serviceman of the 2nd separate special forces brigade (russian ‘GRU’) of the Leningrad military district.
Following his orders, the asset rode a bicycle around the city almost daily to identify facilities that could potentially be used by the Defence Forces.
A smartphone containing evidence of his work for the enemy was seized from the suspect during the search.
Based on evidence collected by the Security Service investigators, a panel of judges found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
