Following SSU investigation, another traitor sentenced to 15 years in prison for guiding air strikes on Kramatorsk

Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, an enemy agent, exposed in January this year while adjusting enemy strikes against Ukrainian defenders in the Donetsk region, has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and confiscation of property.

The investigation revealed that the perpetrator had been directing russian super-heavy guided aerial bombs and long-range artillery at Ukrainian troop bases in the Kramatorsk sector.

The enemy asset turned out to be a local labourer who acted for one of russian armed groups fighting on the eastern front.

The ruscists used his acquaintance from russia to recruit him, and the individual spoke to this friend about his hopes for the occupation of the entire Donetsk region.

After the recruitment, the agent operated under the direction of a ‘liaison officer’ – a russian military serviceman who passed on the information received to his commander.

Following his orders, the traitor surveilled the Defence Forces’ fortifications and firing positions. He disguised these reconnaissance missions as trips to Kramatorsk for a side hustle.

He passed the collected data to the aggressor state via a messaging app as screenshots showing the coordinates of military sites on Google Maps.

The russians first deployed reconnaissance drones to verify the information and, if the ‘target’ was confirmed, prepared an attack.

The SSU apprehended the suspect at his home. Simultaneously, the locations of the Defence Forces that the spy had reconnoitered have been protected.

During the search of the suspect’s premises, two smartphones, which he had used for covert contact with the enemy, were seized.

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court found the accused guilty of high treason (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

The investigation was conducted by the SSU Office in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
