Following SSU investigation, another traitor sentenced to 15 years in prison for guiding russian missiles at Ukraine’s western regions
Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service, an agent of russia’s federal security service, exposed in August 2023 in Khmelnytskyi region, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The perpetrator was preparing a russian missile attack on the region’s railway infrastructure.
To this end, he attempted to install a GPS tracker near a strategically important facility of the local branch of Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukrainian Railways].
Using signals from the beacon, the occupiers planned to launch missiles at the location of the potential target to disrupt freight logistics, particularly military trains of the Defence Forces.
The Security Service detained the agent while he was conducting reconnaissance at the planned strike site and attempting to install a GPS tracker there.
As the investigation revealed, the preparation for the airstrike was carried out by a resident of Slavuta, who fulfilled orders from an employee of the ‘Crimean directorate of the FSB’.
After receiving instructions on how to guide the attack at the target, the agent began carrying out the assignment for money from russia, which was supposed to be sent to his bank card.
During the search of the suspect’s home, a laptop, mobile phones, and SIM cards containing evidence of his contacts with the russian intelligence were found.
Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Khmelnytskyi region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
