Following SSU investigation, another traitor who fought against Donetsk region defenders sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service investigators, another traitor who defected and fought against Ukraine’s Defence Forces in Donetsk oblast has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Ukrainian servicemen captured him during fighting near Toretsk in May 2025.
As the investigation established, the convicted man is a resident of the temporarily occupied city of Donetsk. Back in 2014, he joined the russian-controlled ‘DPR people’s militia’, where he was appointed a ‘technical expert’.
After the start of full-scale war, the traitor signed a contract with the ministry of defence of the aggressor state.
After a short course at military training grounds, he received a service weapon with ammunition and a russian military uniform.
He was then sent to set up checkpoints on the outskirts of Donetsk. Later, the militant was transferred to the position of rifleman in russia’s 132nd separate rifle brigade and deployed to the front lines in the Bakhmut district.
His unit was almost entirely wiped out by Ukrainian soldiers, and the traitor, as one of the survivors, was taken prisoner.
Based on evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation was carried out jointly with investigators from the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
