Following SSU’s investigation, traitor who adjusted Shahed drone strikes on Ukrainian Marines’ positions in Zaporizhzhia region sentenced to 15 years in prison

Based on the evidence gathered by the SSU, another agent of russia’s fsb received a real prison term. He was adjusting the enemy’s missile, artillery and drone strikes in Zaporizhzhia.

The offender tried to establish and provide the aggressor with the coordinates of defence and industrial facilities in the region.

The aggressor was interested in the locations of ship repair facilities and the deployment of Ukrainian marine units.

The occupiers required intelligence to prepare a series of attacks on Ukrainian targets using Smerch multiple launch rocket systems and Shahed kamikaze drones.

The SSU detained the traitor in May this year when he was fulfilling the enemy’s assignment.

Following SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The investigation established that the enemy accomplice was a former tax police official who had been dismissed for corruption in 2011.

In early March of this year, he was remotely recruited by an fsb officer to gather intelligence on the locations of the Defense Forces in the region.

The offender came to the attention of the aggressor because of his pro-kremlin posts on the banned social networks Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki.

To collect information, he drove a taxi around the area and made video records with a hidden dashcam and a mobile phone.

The spy passed the intelligence to his fsb handler via anonymous messenger chats.

The occupiers paid him UAH 2,000 – 5,000 (USD 55 - 139) of reward for each completed task. The suspect offered to transfer the money to his son's bank card for cover.

Based on the evidence collected, the court found the offender guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
