Following SSU investigation, traitor sentenced to 15 years in prison for adjusting russian artillery strikes on border areas in Sumy region

Based on evidence collected by the Security Service, an FSB agent detained by the SSU in June 2022 during a counter-sabotage operation in Sumy region has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

As the investigation established, the perpetrator adjusted russian artillery strikes on the oblast.

The enemy’s main targets were Ukrainian troops defending the border areas in the north-east of Ukraine.

The occupiers planned to use the asset’s data to fire on fortifications of the Defense Forces and then break through with sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

The aggressor’s accomplice is a 34-year-old former employee of a local railway station recruited remotely by russia’s federal security service. The identity of his recruiter has been established by the SSU.

The traitor lived near the state border, where he scouted the surrounding area to identify and photograph the locations of the Defense Forces.

He sent the gathered information to his FSB handler via an anonymous chat at specified times.

During the searches of the suspect’s home, a mobile phone and a computer with evidence of sabotage against Ukraine were seized.

After the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU – high treason, committed under martial law.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Sumy Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
