Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court has convicted an FSB agent for collecting intelligence on the Defence Forces in Khmelnytskyi oblast to a real prison term. The spy posed as an IDP from a frontline area in eastern Ukraine.

He has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

According to the SSU Military Counterintelligence, the person in question tried to establish main locations of the Armed Forces, the State Border Guard Service and the National Police in the region.

The SSU Military Counterintelligence detained the suspect as a result of a special operation in Khmelnytskyi region in September this year.

The investigation revealed that the traitor was a resident of Donetsk region. After russia launched its full-scale invasion, he was recruited remotely by an officer of the FSB’s 5th service, call sign ‘Chef’.

The man came to the aggressor’s attention because of his pro-Kremlin posts in russian Telegram channels.

After recruitment, he received the call sign ‘Seryi’, was briefed and, on his handler’s instructions, moved to Khmelnytskyi to collect information.

The data were passed to the FSB in the form of electronic coordinates and georeferenced photos of Ukrainian targets.

Based on the evidence collected, the court found him guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
