Based on evidence gathered by SSU counterintelligence and investigators, another enemy informant has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. The perpetrator harbored a russian soldier and, acting on his instructions, guided enemy fire at the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the frontline town of Lyman.

SSU counterintelligence officers detained the agent in May of this year in eastern Ukraine. During the special operation, Ukrainian forces eliminated the Russian soldier she had been hiding.

The occupier then recruited the woman to direct enemy fire. Specifically, she relayed the known locations of Ukrainian defenders to the russian fighter, who reported their coordinates to his unit via radio to adjust artillery shelling. As the investigation revealed, the enemy assignment was carried out by a 58-year-old unemployed local woman recruited by the invaders. During an assault on the outskirts of the city, a russian serviceman with the call sign 'Shaman' infiltrated the area and established contact with her. Subsequently, the woman hid him in an empty neighboring house.

Based on evidence provided by the SSU, the court found the defendant guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (treason committed under martial law).

She was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The investigation was conducted by officers of the SSU Main Office in Donetsk and Luhansk Regions under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
