Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, an enemy agent – exposed in February this year whilst helping the enemy target Mykolaiv – has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and confiscation of property.

As the investigation revealed, the spotter is a local resident recruited by russia’s federal security service. He came to their attention when he posted anti-Ukrainian messages in Telegram channel chat rooms.

After the recruitment, the traitor began tracking the locations of the Defence Forces in the port city, against which the ruscists were preparing missile and drone strikes.

The priority targets, the coordinates of which he was gathering for the enemy, were logistics depots and Ukrainian air defence deployment sites.

To help the russians adjust their strikes, the perpetrator cycled around the regional centre and surrounding areas, filming Ukrainian facilities on his mobile phone.

The SSU identified the agent at the initial stage of his espionage activities and detained him at his home.

Computer equipment and a mobile phone containing evidence of his work for the FSB were seized from him during the search.

Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Mykolaiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
