Following SSU investigation, FSB agent sentenced to 15 years in prison for adjusting russian strikes on Dnipro and arson of railway equipment
Based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, an agent of russia’s federal security service, exposed in September 2024 for guiding strikes on the Dnipropetrovsk region – has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and confiscation of property.
It has been established that the man was recruited by the russian intelligence services whilst searching for ‘easy money’ on Telegram. He later involved his wife in the sabotage activities.
The couple tracked the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ anti-aircraft missile systems and radar stations. The enemy used this intelligence to prepare air strikes.
To gather the data, the woman took photographs and videos of military installations and marked their coordinates on Google Maps, whilst her husband passed the intelligence on to a handler in russia.
In addition, it has been documented that he set fire to a relay cabinet at a railway junction. The agent filmed the fire on his mobile phone to provide a ‘report’ to the russian intelligence.
The perpetrator was subsequently due to continue a series of arson attacks on strategically important facilities on Ukrainian railways. In this way, the aggressor state hoped to disrupt the Defence Forces’ logistics in the eastern and southern sectors of the front.
During the searches of the suspect’s home, the investigators found tools used for arson, mobile phones and computer equipment containing evidence of his work for the FSB.
The court found the perpetrator guilty under two Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 113.3 (sabotage, committed under martial law).
In March 2025, the agent’s wife, having cooperated with the investigation, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorised disclosure of information regarding the deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, committed under martial law).
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Office in the Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
