Following SSU’s investigation, militant who scouted AFU positions in Zaporizhzhia oblast sentenced to 15 years behind bars
The SSU has collected indisputable evidence of guilt of another member of the ‘DNR’ terrorist organization, who fought against Ukraine.
After russia launched its full-scale invasion, he joined the occupation groups of the aggressor’s Southern military district.
With the enemy troops, he took an active part in warfare against the Defence Forces in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
In September this year, he was transferred to the southern front to conduct reconnaissance of combat positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Zaporizhzhia direction.
However, during the first reconnaissance mission the enemy group was destroyed by Ukrainian defenders in Polohy district, and the militant himself was captured.
Based on the SSU’s evidence, court sentenced him to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
According to the investigation, the offender is a resident of Donetsk region, who voluntarily joined the ranks of the russian-controlled ‘DNR’s people’s militia’ after February 24 this year.
Then he was appointed a gunner of a motorized rifle battalion of russia’s 1st army corps.
Court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
The SSU warns: punishment for crimes against Ukraine’s state security is inevitable.
The detention and investigation were carried out by the SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region in cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
