Following SSU’s investigation, FSB agent who provided enemy with information on Ukrainian positions near Mykolaiv sentenced to 8 years in prison
The SSU has collected evidence proving the guilt of another traitor, who passed intelligence on the Defence Forces’ locations in Mykolaiv oblast to occupiers.
Primarily, he tried to identify and send to the aggressor locations of dugouts and other fortifications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Mykolaiv.
The SSU detained the spy in late June 2022 during counter-sabotage operations in the frontline areas.
Based on the SSU’s findings, the court sentenced the offender to 8 years in prison, given his cooperation with the investigation.
The perpetrator is a local resident, who was recruited remotely by the FSB at the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion.
The russian special service contacted the man through one of the pro-kremlin Telegram channels, where he repeatedly posted his anti-Ukrainian comments.
All further communication with the FSB was carried out in the messenger through a ‘liaison’. The latter turned out to be the administrator of the same Telegram channel.
The invaders planned to use the information received from the agent for rocket and artillery strikes on the Ukrainian defenders’ positions.
The court found the enemy informant guilty under two Articles of the CCU:
- 114-2.3 (unauthorized dissemination of information on sending, movement of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU or other lawful military formations);
- 436-2.2, 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The SSU Office in Mykolaiv region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
