Following SSU investigation, FSB agents sentenced to 9 years in prison for arsons in Zakarpattia region

Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, another two FSB agents who committed arsons in Zakarpattia region have been sentenced to prison.

The two individuals destroyed a transformer substation in one of the villages of Rakhiv district on the order of the russian special service.

This power facility powered over 60 social institutions of the community, including the local primary health care center.

Almost simultaneously with this crime, the arsonists committed another one: they burned the switchboard of a transit base station of one of Ukraine’s mobile operators.

The SSU detained the enemy agents in February this year.

According to the investigation, russia’s orders were carried out by two 22-year-old local unemployed people who were looking for ‘easy money’ on Telegram. There, they were approached by an FSB officer and offered quick ‘earnings’ in exchange for cooperation.

To commit the crimes, the agents used flammable mixtures, recorded the fire on their phones, and sent the video to their FSB handler.

Tools used for arson, as well as other evidence of working for the enemy, were seized during searches.

Based on the evidence collected by SSU investigators, the accused were found guilty under Articles 28.2, 113.2 of the CCU (sabotage, committed by a group, under martial law).

Taking into account the cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced the perpetrators to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Zakarpattia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor's Office.
