Following SSU’s investigation, court sentences agents who provided enemy with intelligence on AFU positions in Donetsk region to 10 years in prison
The SSU continues to bring members of russian intelligence networks to justice.
As a result of operational and investigative activities, the SSU collected irrefutable evidence proving the guilt of another two enemy accomplices.
The agents collected intelligence for the aggressor on deployment and movement of the Defence Forces in the frontline areas of Donetsk oblast.
The informants were primarily interested in positions of Ukrainian defenders in Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.
They also passed to the enemy information on locations and technical condition of critical infrastructure facilities in the oblast.
The occupiers used the data to launch targeted missile strikes on Ukrainian towns.
The SSU detained the two agents in March and October 2022 in the course of counter-sabotage activities in Donetsk region.
As a result of the SSU’s investigation, court sentenced them to 8 and 10 years behind bars.
One of the convicts is a local resident who was taking photos and video footage of the movement of Ukrainian military equipment.
He passed the intelligence through anonymous messaging apps to his stepfather, who served in the occupation troops and collaborated with the russian special services.
The other agent sent ‘reports’ on location of Ukrainian troops to a chatbot of the ‘DNR people’s militia’ especially created by the aggressor.
For secrecy, the offender registered under a female name in the messenger.
Based on the evidence collected, court found the accused guilty under the two Articles of the CCU:
- 258-3.1 (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization);
- 114-2.3 (unauthorized dissemination of information on transfer, movement of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU or other lawful military formations, committed under martial law).
The SSU warns: punishment for crimes against Ukraine is inevitable.
The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk Regions carried out the investigation under the supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
