Following SSU’s investigation, four russian agents who adjusted missile strikes on Bakhmut and Kramatorsk sentenced to 14 years behind bars
The SSU has collected irrefutable evidence proving the guilt of another four members of russian intelligence networks.
The agents collected intelligence on location and movement of the Defence Forces in the frontline areas of eastern Ukraine.
Primarily, they were interested in positions of Ukrainian defenders on Bakhmut, Kramatorsk and Severodonetsk directions.
They also provided the aggressor with coordinates and information on technical condition of critical infrastructure in the area.
Occupiers needed the data to prepare and launch targeted missile strikes on Ukrainian towns.
The SSU detained the russian agents as a result of special operations in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Following the pre-trial investigations, the court sentenced the accused to 9 to 14 years in prison.
One of the convicts is an agent who passed intelligence through his ‘contact’ in the russian-controlled ‘DNR ministry of state security’.
Another offender recorded locations of the AFU units in Bakhmut and sent the intelligence to a chatbot of the ‘press service of the DNR people’s militia’.
To disguise his activity, the agent registered in the messenger under the nickname ‘Cipollino’.
A resident of Druzhkivka was convicted for passing intelligence to the so-called ‘DNR’s republican guard’ through his sister in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region.
Another enemy accomplice is a resident of Severodonetsk who was in contact with a militant of russia’s 2nd army corps and sent him coordinates of bases of Ukrainian troops.
Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under three Articles of the CCU:
- 258-3.1 (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization);
- 111.1 (high treason);
- 111-1.7 (collaboration).
The SSU emphasizes the inevitability of punishment for crimes against Ukraine.
The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the investigations jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
