Following SSU investigation, five militants who fought against Defense Forces sentenced to 15 years in prison

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another five traitors who fought against Ukraine on the eastern front have been convicted to imprisonment.

Ukrainian defenders captured them during the battles near Novopavlivka and Toretsk.

After the investigations by the SSU, the court sentenced them to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The convicted individuals are residents of the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region who voluntarily joined the occupation groupings of russia’s Southern military district.

One of the perpetrators is a native of Makiivka who joined the 1st army corps of the aggressor state in 2017, where he was appointed a radio technician of a communications unit.

Later, he was transferred to the 116th separate rifle regiment. First, he equipped russian firing positions on the left bank of Kherson region and later performed enemy missions on the eastern front.

After a battle near Petropavlivka, Donetsk region, in January 2024, the traitor surrendered to Ukrainian defenders as the only survivor of his entire unit.

Another militant, as a member of the 3rd russian special purpose brigade, attacked Ukrainian positions near Pervomaisk and Leonidivka.

One more convicted man, being in the ranks of russia’s 9th motorized rifle brigade, took part in the assaults on Avdiivka and the village of Niu-York in Donetsk region.

The fourth traitor fired at the positions of the Defense Forces near Toretsk from a self-propelled artillery system Gvozdika.

On the same Toretsk direction, another militant, who was a member of the occupiers’ 132nd motorized rifle brigade, stormed the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Based on the evidence collected, the court found the accused guilty under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.1, 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
  • 111-1.7 (collaboration).

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
