Following SSU investigation, FSB agent sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempt to burn down power substation in Kirovohrad region
Based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, another agent of russia’s federal security service has been convicted to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. He attempted to set fire to a key power substation in Kirovohrad region and spied on the locations of the Defence Forces.
The investigation established that the agent was a 21-year-old cashier at a local grocery store who had been recruited by the enemy. He came to the FSB’s attention because of his pro-kremlin comments on Telegram.
Following the recruitment, the enemy accomplice began identifying coordinates of power substations that supply strategically important facilities in the region.
After the occupiers approved the target, the agent approached the power plant, poured a flammable mixture on its equipment and tried to set it on fire.
At that moment, he was detained by the SSU. A container with fuel and a smartphone, which he used to contact his FSB handler, were seized from the perpetrator.
The investigation established that the traitor also tracked the locations of Ukrainian troops. The aggressor state used this intelligence to prepare missile and drone attacks.
Based on the evidence collected the Security Service, the court found the accused guilty under two Articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 113.2 (sabotage, committed under martial law).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kirovohrad region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
