Following SSU investigation, traitor sentenced to life imprisonment for guiding russian drones at Kherson

Based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, an agent of russia’s military intelligence (the GRU), exposed in October 2024 for directing strikes at Kherson, has been sentenced to life imprisonment and confiscation of property.

The maximum sentence has been handed down to a schoolteacher who guided russian drones at the city’s defenders.

It was established that the woman used a messaging app to pass the coordinates of Ukrainian troops on to a ‘liaison’ from the russian GRU. He was found to be the commander of the UAV operators’ unit of the 186th separate reconnaissance battalion of the russian armed grouping ‘Dnepr’.

The asset came to the GRU’s attention when she posted pro-kremlin comments in Telegram channel chat rooms.

After the recruitment, she walked and drove around the streets of the regional centre to photograph locations where Defence Forces personnel and equipment were concentrated.

She compiled the gathered information into a ‘report’ and sent it to the russian serviceman in the form of photos of potential ‘targets’ marked on Google Maps.

The investigation revealed that the ruscists used this intelligence to carry out massive attacks on Kherson, including with kamikaze drones.

During searches of the suspect’s home, mobile phones and computer equipment containing evidence of her work for the enemy were seized.

Based on evidence collected by the SSU, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Kherson region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
