Following SSU’s investigation, another 8 traitors, who fought against AFU in Kherson and Donetsk regions, face life imprisonment

The SSU has collected evidence against another 8 traitors who joined russian occupation troops and fought against Ukraine.

The Security and Defence Forces took these men prisoner during fierce battles near Lyman and Lysychansk and while liberating the right-bank part of Kherson oblast.

The captured enemy soldiers include grenade launcher operators, a radio operator and machine gunners.

Almost all of them joined the terrorist groups ‘L/DNR’ and fought against the Anti-Terrorist Operation forces in eastern Ukraine before russia launched its full-scale invasion.

In late February 2022, they voluntarily joined regular units of the 1st and 2nd army corps of the aggressor state’s Southern military district.

Together with the russian invaders, the militants stormed Ukrainian settlements in Donetsk and Kherson regions and used various types of automatic and anti-tank weapons during battles.

The individuals in question have also equipped the occupiers’ firing positions and built fortifications to deter Ukraine’s counteroffensive operations.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators have notified the detained enemy combatants of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.2 (high treason committed under martial law);
  • 111-1.7 (collaboration).

The suspects are facing life imprisonment.

The investigation is ongoing and is carried out by the SSU Ivano-Frankivsk Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
