Following SSU investigation, FSB agent sentenced to life imprisonment for helping ruscists capture Bakhmut

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, an agent of russia’s federal security service who operated in Donetsk region has been convicted to life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The perpetrator passed geolocations of Ukrainian troops to the enemy during the battles for Bakhmut.

The russian intelligence was particularly interested in information on fortifications and routes of movement of the AFU near the city.

The enemy needed the intelligence for combat operations to capture Bakhmut.

The SSU detained the traitor in May 2022 during counter-sabotage measures.

According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is a 39-year-old resident of Bakhmut, who came to the attention of the FSB due to his pro-kremlin posts and videos on Telegram channels.

The man was recruited remotely by an FSB serviceman, whom the SSU has identified.

During the searches, the SSU seized the agent’s mobile phone with evidence of his intelligence-gathering and sabotage against Ukraine.

The court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
