Following SSU’s investigation, court nationalizes assets of russian senator who exported components for russian navy from Ukraine

Following the SSU’s investigation, the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the claim of the Ministry of Justice to recover assets belonging to the sanctioned senator of russia’s federation council Sergey Kalashnikov.

The case concerns the nationalization of 100% of the authorized capital of Motordetal-Konotop LLC in Sumy region.

This company is one of the largest plants in Europe that produces cylinder liners for automotive, diesel and marine engines.

Prior to russia’s full-scale invasion, Kalashnikov supplied the products of the Ukrainian plant to russia for the needs of the russian military-industrial complex.

In particular, the aggressor needed the unique components of the Konotop plant to build warships.

In addition, the senator of the federation council from Kostroma region Kalashnikov voted in favour of the ratification of ‘treaties’ recognizing the so-called ‘L/DNR’.

And after the start of the full-scale invasion, he supported the ‘accession’ of the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine to russia.

The SSU initiated criminal proceedings under Article 110-2.4 of the CCU (financing of actions committed with the aim of forceful change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power, change of the boundaries of Ukraine’s territory or state border). The investigation is ongoing.

The activities to nationalize russian property were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
