Following SSU’s investigation, another notice of suspicion served to former Antonov CEO, whose actions led to destruction of Mriya aircraft
The SSU jointly with the National Police investigators uncovered new facts of criminal activity of the former director general of the Antonov State Enterprise, which led to the destruction of the AN-225 Mriya aircraft.
The investigation revealed that in early 2022 the head of the state-owned enterprise was supposed to organize a timely evacuation of the aircraft from Hostomel airfield.
For protection, it was to be transported to the airport in Leipzig, Germany.
According to the investigation, on the eve of the full-scale invasion, the An-225 was in proper technical condition, which allowed it to fly outside Ukraine.
Instead, the company’s director general did not give the appropriate instruction to evacuate Mriya abroad.
The official’s criminal actions led to the destruction of the Ukrainian transport aircraft, causing losses to the state in the amount of UAH 8.4 bln.
In addition, the former official failed to ensure the timely extension of the aircraft insurance contract.
As a result, the state-owned enterprise lost over UAH 42 mln in insurance payments.
Based on the evidence collected, the former CEO of the company was served a notice of suspicion under Article 367.2 of the CCU (gross negligence that caused grave consequences).
Earlier, the SSU served a notice of suspicion to the offender and his two accomplices under Article 114-1.2 of the CCU (obstruction of lawful activity of the AFU and other military formations during a special period, which led to deaths and other grave consequences).
Comprehensive measures are underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the involved to justice.
The SSU is investigating the proceeding jointly with the National Police under the supervision of the Specialized Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
