At SSU’s initiative, another 7 UOC-MP clerics under NSDC ‘church sanctions’

The SSU has published a new list of persons who, upon its submission, were sanctioned by the National Security and Defence Council, which was approved by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi on December 11.

These are 7 persons, who are representatives of moscow patriarchate’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church or are closely associated with this organization:

  • metropolitan Panteleimon (Povorozniuk) of Luhansk and Alchevsk;
  • metropolitan Luka (Kovalenko) of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol;
  • archimandrite of Zaporizhzhia diocese Ioann (Prokopenko);
  • archimandrite of Kherson diocese Oleksiy (Fedorov);
  • metropolitan Antoniy (Pakanych) of Boryspil and Brovary;
  • metropolitan Meletiy (Yegorenko) of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna;
  • bishop Paisiy (Shinkaryov) of Kostiantynivka.

The individuals on this list came up with various initiatives, in particular they:

  • agreed to cooperate with occupation authorities;
  • promote pro-russian narratives;
  • justify russia’s military aggression in Ukraine.

Restrictive measures against these individuals are introduced for a period of five years and will include blocking of assets, restriction of trade operations, blocking the withdrawal of capital from Ukraine, etc. In addition, all of them are deprived of Ukrainian state awards and of any other forms of recognition.

From now on, these persons will not be able to acquire ownership of land plots, privatize state property and intellectual property rights.

The SSU continues its efforts to protect Ukrainian statehood and will continue to expose persons who threaten Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
