SSU investigates head of putin’s ‘election staff’ who calls for destruction of Ukraine
The SSU has collected new evidence of subversive activities of russian actor Vladimir Mashkov, who is promoting an aggressive war against Ukraine.
Mashkov is a member of putin’s inner circle and is one of the headliners during mass rallies in moscow in support of russia’s full-scale invasion.
In December 2023, he was appointed co-chairman of putin’s ‘election staff’ in the so-called presidential elections in russia.
In this ‘position’, Mashkov became a key propaganda mouthpiece in the kremlin leader’s ‘election campaign’.
The propagandist publicly calls for support for russian occupation troops fighting against Ukraine.
He also personally justifies the destruction of civilian infrastructure and the seizure of part of Ukraine’s territory.
Mashkov has multiple times reiterated his destructive rhetoric during his ‘election’ tours of different russian regions, as well as during his visits to the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine.
Such propaganda speeches usually take place during ‘concert meetings’ and ‘meetings with voters’.
The SSU-initiated examinations confirmed the facts of his subversive activities against Ukraine.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified Mashkov of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:
- 110.2 (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability);
- 436 (propaganda of war).
In May 2023, the SSU declared him suspect under three Articles of the CCU. The indictment on these charges has already been sent to court.
As the suspect is in russia, comprehensive efforts are underway to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Vinnytsia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
