Following SSU investigation, two enemy agents sentenced to 10 years in prison for arson in Kyiv

Based on evidence collected by the Security Service, another two enemy agents have been convicted for arson attacks in Kyiv on behalf of the aggressor state. The perpetrators attempted to destroy a Ukrposhta post office and a relay cabinet on the railway.

One of the agents is a 33-year-old unemployed Kyiv resident who evaded mobilisation and was looking for easy money on Telegram.

For the promise of quick payments from the ruscists, he agreed to carry out a series of arson attacks on buildings of Ukrposhta (Ukraine’s national post) in the capital.

The arsonist set up a cache near the post’s district branch, having received approval for this action from his handler. The agent placed a hammer and a Molotov cocktail in the hiding place.

He then returned to the cache, took the tools, used the hammer to break a window of the post office, and then threw the flammable mixture inside the building.

After the arson, the agent, following russia’s instructions, treated the surrounding area with chlorine solution and burned his clothes to hide the traces of the crime.

However, this did not help him. The SSU and the National Police detained the suspect at his home within a few hours after the sabotage.

Another enemy agent turned out to be a 21-year-old resident of Bukovyna who came to Kyiv in search of a part-time job. In the capital, he began to regularly monitor Telegram channels, where he eventually was recruited by the occupiers.

On orders from the aggressor state, he set fire to a relay cabinet on Ukrzaliznytsia railway and was soon detained by the law enforcement.

Based on the SSU’s investigations, both accused were found guilty under Article 113.2 of the CCU (sabotage, committed under martial law).

Given their cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced them to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
