Following SSU investigations, three agents sentenced to 15 years in prison for arson and leaking Defence Forces positions to enemy

Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, three more traitors have been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property for carrying out arson attacks and transmitting the coordinates of Ukrainian Defence Forces positions to the enemy in several regions of Ukraine.

In the Cherkasy region, two drug-addicted accomplices were convicted of setting fire to a relay cabinet near a local Ukrzaliznytsia station, as well as two military pickup trucks, acting on instructions from russian handlers.

The SSU detained them in September 2024 within 24 hours of the arson attacks.

The investigation established that both perpetrators had been recruited by the russian intelligence services through Telegram channels where they had been seeking ‘easy money’.

In the Donetsk region, an enemy agent detained by the SSU in February 2025 has also been convicted. He had passed the geolocation data for Ukrainian troops in the Kramatorsk and Sloviansk sectors to russia’s federal security service.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator is a local unemployed resident who had been awaiting the full occupation of the region by russian forces. He came to russia’s attention after posting pro-kremlin comments on the Odnoklassniki social network.

Following his recruitment, the asset walked in the frontline areas, filming and transmitting the locations of Ukrainian defenders’ bases in the Donetsk region. The aggressor state intended to use this intelligence to carry out combined air strikes against Ukrainian positions.

Based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, the court found the accused guilty under several Articles of the CCU, including:

  • 111.2 – high treason, committed under martial law;
  • 28.2, 113.2 – sabotage, committed by a group of persons, acting in prior conspiracy, under martial law;
  • 15.2, 28.2, 114-1.1 – obstruction of the lawful activities of the AFU, by a group, by prior conspiracy;
  • 28.2, 194.2 – intentional destruction or damage to property, committed by a group, by prior conspiracy;
  • 309.1 – illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, or shipment of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogues without intent to sell.

The investigation was conducted by the SSU Offices in the Cherkasy, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions in cooperation with the National Police of Ukraine under the procedural supervision of the Cherkasy and Donetsk regional Prosecutor’s Offices.
