Following SSU investigation, another three traitors sentenced to 15 years in prison for adjusting russian strikes on Kyiv and Odesa region
Based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, another three russian agents who guided russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and Odesa have been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The two individuals convicted in the capital were unemployed local residents who were exposed by the Security Service of Ukraine in August 2024.
To carry out the enemy's assignment, the perpetrators rented an apartment with a ‘panoramic’ view of the critical infrastructure facilities in Kyiv and installed video cameras there with remote access for russian intelligence officers.
Using these devices, the ruscists hoped to identify the locations of the Ukrainian Air Defence System during further attacks on the city.
Furthermore, the saboteurs attempted to establish their own agent networks to adjust enemy strikes in Poltava and Chernihiv regions. For this purpose, they planned to recruit local residents through Telegram.
Another person convicted is the head of a crewing company, whom the SSU detained in May 2025 whilst he was conducting further reconnaissance near a potential ‘target’ in the Odesa region.
As the investigation revealed, the agent was travelling around the region to identify the locations of surface-to-air missile systems and radar stations protecting the Black Sea coastline and waters.
He passed the collected coordinates to his handler in russia for the preparation of a new series of strikes on the southern region of Ukraine.
During searches of his premises, fake ID cards of a ‘newspaper editor’ and a local water utility employee were found, which the agent had used as a cover during his reconnaissance missions.
Based on the SSU materials, the court found the perpetrators guilty of the crimes committed under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Article 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
- Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 113 (sabotage committed by a group of persons acting under a prior conspiracy under martial law);
- Part 3 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 113 (organising preparations for sabotage committed by a group of persons acting in concert under martial law);
- Part 3 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 14, Part 1 of Article 114-1 (organising preparations to obstruct the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period, committed by a group of persons acting under a prior conspiracy)
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Office in the Odesa and the Poltava regions, jointly with the SSU Office in Kyiv and the Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of the Odesa and Kyiv regional Prosecutor’s Offices.
