Following SSU’s investigation, notice of suspicion served to Poltava mayor

Following the SSU’s investigation, the mayor of Poltava has been served a notice of suspicion. The official is suspected of unauthorized dissemination of information on deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, committed under martial law (Article 114-2 of the CCU).

According to the investigation, the suspect disseminated data that had not been made publicly available neither by the General Staff of the AFU, nor by the Ministry of Defence, nor by any other authorized state entities.

The pre-trial investigation is conducted by investigators of the SSU Poltava Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The crime is punishable by up to 12 years in prison.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in line with the procedure defined by law and established by a relevant court’s verdict.
