Following SSU investigation, court sentences russian agent to 7 years in prison
Svaliava District Court of Zakarpattia region has passed a guilty verdict in the case of a russian agent who gathered information in Ukraine for the FSB.
The agent was found guilty of committing the crime under Articles 27.5 and 109.1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (actions aimed at forceful change or overthrow of constitutional order or at seizure of state power) and was sentenced to seven years in prison.
The SSU Counterintelligence exposed this FSB agent in Transcarpathia in March.
The pre-trial investigation established that this person (using nickname Gelen) collected and passed intelligence to his handlers for the purpose of preparing acts of sabotage and special information operations to destabilize the situation in the border areas of Ukraine.
SSU investigators and counterintelligence have collected a comprehensive evidence base proving his cooperation with russian special services. The investigation identified the entire chain of his supervisors and coordinators from among FSB employees, including those who worked undercover.
The SSU will continue to expose enemy agents and collaborators so that none of them goes unpunished.
