SSU forwards case against head of Chechen parliament, who sent Kadyrov’s troops to Ukraine, to court

The Security Service of Ukraine has completed an investigation against the chairman of the Chechen Republic’s parliament, Magomed Daudov, who facilitated russia’s armed aggression.

The indictment has been sent to court.

According to the investigation, from May 2022 to October 2023, the official carried out Kadyrov’s instructions to form assault units of militants for the war against Ukraine.

With Daudov’s direct involvement, the 78th motorized special purpose regiment north-akhmat was created in the North Caucasus, as well as the battalions south-akhmat, west-akhmat and east-akhmat.

Subsequently, the enemy units were incorporated into russia’s occupation groupings and deployed to the temporarily occupied districts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts of Ukraine.

There, the kadyrovites are conducting repressions against local civilian population, abducting people who resist the invaders.

From July to November 2022, Daudov visited the temporarily occupied Lysychansk, Popasna and Mariupol on multiple occasions.

During the visits, he met with militants and urged to continue warfare against Ukraine’s Defence Forces.

The parliament head also posted messages on his Telegram channel, calling on residents of the North Caucasus to join Kadyrov’s occupation forces.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified Daudov of suspicion under three Articles of the CCU:

  • 27.5, 110.3 (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability, which led to death of people and other grave consequences);
  • 27.5, 437.2 (planning, preparation, unleashing and waging of an aggressive war);
  • 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The criminal is in russia; efforts are underway to bring him to justice.

The investigation was conducted jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
