Following SSU and ESBU’s investigation, court seizes 170 railcars with russian and belarusian goods worth UAH 100 mln

Following an investigation by the SSU and the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine, court arrested a wholesale consignment of mineral fertilizers produced in russia and belarus.

The foreign products were found in 170 railcars in Mykolaiv, on the territory of the Specialized Sea Port, which is part of a business entity of the sanctioned oligarch Dmytro Firtash.

The total amount of seized property is 11.8 thousand tons, which is worth almost UAH 100 mln (USD 2.5 mln).

The investigation established that the railroad containers with fertilizers had arrived in Ukraine before the start of the full-scale invasion and were ‘in transit’.

According to intelligence, the cargo belonged to two foreign companies - Uralkali and Belaruskali.

The owners planned to transport the goods to third countries for sale and make millions in profit, part of which, in form of taxes, would have been used to finance the war against Ukraine.

As a result of operational and investigative activities, the SSU initiated a handover of the seized property to the National Agency of Ukraine for Detection, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes (ARMA).

Criminal proceeding was initiated under Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (tax evasion). The investigation is ongoing.

The SSU carried out the activities jointly with the Economic Security Bureau under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
