Following SSU and SBI investigation, brothers of traitor MPs Medvedchuk and Kozak receive notices of suspicion

The Security Service and the State Bureau of Investigation have collected evidence of the crimes committed by Serhiy Medvedchuk and Bohdan Kozak, brothers of former members of parliament Viktor Medvedchuk and Taras Kozak, suspected of state treason.

All four are currently hiding outside Ukraine and conducting subversive activities against Ukraine.

The investigation established that Serhiy Medvedchuk and Bohdan Kozak had been involved in financial fraud to Ukraine’s detriment in 2017-2023.

They are suspected of deliberately diverting millions of hryvnias ‘to shadow’, which resulted in the state budget not receiving over UAH 75 mln (USD 1.8 mln) in taxes.

These funds were then used to finance russia’s war against Ukraine.

To operate the scheme, the traitors’ brothers used a Lviv-based construction materials company, which they managed as beneficial owners.

On their instructions, the company’s top management did not account for part of the products and sold them illegally to third parties.

In this way, the participants in the scheme evaded paying tax on the products sold.

For this purpose, the company’s director and accountant entered false information into the financial and reporting documents.

The forensic economic examination initiated by the SSU confirmed the fact that the state had suffered losses amounting to millions of UAH and that these funds had been embezzled by the fraudsters.

Based on the evidence collected, Serhiy Medvedchuk and Bohdan Kozak were notified of suspicion in absentia under Article 212.3 of the CCU (tax evasion).

The actions of their accomplices, the director and the accountant of the controlled company, who are in Ukraine, are additionally qualified under Article 366.2 of the CCU (official forgery).

The investigation is ongoing. The persons involved face imprisonment.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Lviv region jointly with the SBI under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
