Following SSU and National Police investigation, arsonists who carried out russia’s orders in Bukovyna sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU and the National Police, three agents of russian intelligence who committed arson attacks on Ukrainian railways in Chernivtsi region have been sentenced to prison terms.
The law enforcement detained them in September 2024 after they set fire to a relay cabinet on a railway line in the western region.
The perpetrators are two brothers and their friend from Chernivtsi, who were looking for quick money on Telegram.
There, the men were recruited by the russian intelligence and initially given a test task – to write provocative graffiti on the walls of city buildings.
The agents then received the instructions to set fire to power facilities that ensure the smooth movement of trains, including Ukrainian military echelons.
In this way, the enemy hoped to disrupt transport logistics of supplies for Ukrainian troops at the front.
During the searches, the SSU seized mobile phones with evidence of sabotage activities against Ukraine.
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU investigators, the court found the agents guilty under Articles 28.2, 113.2 of the CCU (sabotage, committed by a group, under martial law).
All three offenders have been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Office in Chernivtsi region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
