Following SSU and Prosecutor’s Office investigation, propagandist from Mykolaiv region sentenced to 15 years in prison

Based on evidence collected by the Security Service and the Prosecutor’s Office, a pro-kremlin agitator exposed in Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv region, in April 2024, has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and confiscation of property.

This is the first time that such a sentence has been handed down to an individual convicted of engaging solely in subversive information activities in the interests of russia.

The investigation revealed that the perpetrator was a local draft evader who disseminated enemy propaganda online under the guise of a ‘neo-bolshevik’ underground movement.

According to the investigation, he denied Ukrainian statehood and russia’s armed aggression and war crimes.

To spin his destructive posts, the propagandist set up a dedicated website and also used his own page on the russian social network VKontakte.

Subsequently, the perpetrator began seeking out ‘like-minded individuals’ with a view to recruiting them into the cell.

During the searches, a smartphone, computer equipment, and a large quantity of pro-kremlin literature were seized.

Based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, the court found the supporter of ruscism guilty of high treason under Article 111.2 of the CCU.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Mykolaiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
