Following SSU’s investigation, two militants who helped russia capture Debaltseve and Popasna sentenced to prison terms
The SSU Military Counterintelligence and investigators gathered a solid evidence base that allowed to bring to justice another two members of terrorist organizations ‘L/DNR’.
The militants were part of russian occupation groupings and fought against Ukraine’s Defence Forces on the eastern front.
Both criminals were captured by our defenders during combat in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Following SSU’s investigation, they have been sentenced to 10 and 13 years behind bars.
One of them, who went by the call sign ‘Trefa’, actively participated in warfare against ATO units in eastern Ukraine since 2017. Now, he has been sentenced to 13 years in prison.
After the start of russia’s full-scale invasion, ‘Trefa’ shelled civilian infrastructure of Popasna, Luhansk region, from cannon artillery and mortars.
The other convict was an operator-gunner of an infantry fighting vehicle of the 11th separate guards motorized rifle regiment of the russian armed forces (better known as the Vostok battalion).
In early 2015, he stormed Debaltseve, and from 2022 the militant had been fighting against the Defence Forces near Avdiivka.
Based on the evidence, the court found the perpetrators guilty under two Articles of the CCU:
- 111.1 (high treason);
- 258-3.1 (participation in a terrorist organization).
The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
