Following SSU’s investigation, enemy agents convicted to prison for spying on AFU artillery in Donetsk region
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another two informants of russian intelligence, who operated in Donetsk region, received prison terms.
The perpetrators are unemployed residents of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. They were reconnoitering the locations of Ukrainian combat units near these cities.
Primarily, the enemy accomplices tried to identify and pass on to the aggressor the geolocations of firing positions of Ukrainian artillery, particularly HIMARS.
Based on these coordinates, the enemy planned to carry out targeted missile and drone strikes on the AFU personnel, weapons and ammo.
The SSU prevented this due to the timely identification and detention of the traitors in autumn 2022 and 2023.
Given their cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced the accused man to 11 years in prison and the accused woman – to 8 years in prison.
As the investigation established, the occupiers engaged the two residents in cooperation remotely after the start of russia’s full-scale invasion.
They came to the aggressor’s attention through their anti-Ukrainian comments in russian Telegram channels.
To carry out the enemy instructions, the perpetrators walked around target areas and covertly photographed the facilities of the Defence Forces and monitored their movements.
The informant from Sloviansk also set up an ‘observation post’ in her apartment to track the movement of Ukrainian troops.
Anonymous chats in a messenger app were used to communicate with the ruscists.
Following the SSU’s investigation, the court found both offenders guilty under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU, committed under martial law).
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
