Following SSU investigation, enemy agent-banker and ‘speechwriter’ of russian military correspondent convicted to prison
Following the SSU’s investigation, another two enemy accomplices who were engaged in sabotage against the Defence Forces in Kharkiv have been sentenced to imprisonment.
One of the convicted is a russian spy - a 56-year-old russian citizen who simultaneously worked at a local bank and performed tasks for russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’).
He prepared coordinates for the aggressor’s missile and bomb strikes on places where technical documentation needed to restore industrial facilities in the region was stored.
To obtain the geolocations of potential targets, the russian tried to use his acquaintance, a local official with access to classified information, hoping she would unwittingly provide the information.
The agent also drove around the city in his car and recorded locations of Kharkiv defenders on a hidden video recorder.
The SSU Counterintelligence uncovered the perpetrator at an early stage and detained him in 2024.
Given his cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced him to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Another enemy accomplice is a 42-year-old resident of Kharkiv who prepared talking points for public speeches of a russian ‘military correspondent’.
In her materials, the woman justified russia’s air strikes on Kharkiv and tried to discredit the Defence Forces, speaking supposedly on behalf of ordinary residents.
Further, a kremlin propagandist spun these fakes on the air of the kremlin’s mouthpieces – Skabeeva’s or Solovyov’s talk shows.
The ‘military correspondent’ also published articles by his accomplice on his YouTube channel with a reach of 231,000 users.
The traitor also collected geolocations of Ukrainian checkpoints, locations of air defence systems and data on the consequences of enemy strikes for the ‘military correspondent’. He passed this data to the russian military intelligence.
Based on the SSU’s investigation, the collaborator was sentenced to 11 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The investigation was carried out by SSU Offices in Kharkiv and Cherkasy regions under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s offices.
